Let's help a shelter for dogs.
Last year we helped Mrs. Iryna and her shelter. Thanks to us, Mrs. Iryna doesn’t have to go far to get water and she doesn’t have to worry about having enough food for her dogs. But as Iryna’s health is deteriorating, we have decided to continue with our help.
She needs a volunteer to help her care for the dogs in order for her to heal in peace.
We met this kind-hearted lady last summer during one of our trips to Odesa. She runs a shelter where she cares for more than 100 animals. She takes care of dogs and cats that were abandoned by their owners when they fled from the war. From her pension of 3,000 UAH (approx. 1870 CZK), Mrs. Iryna tried not only to feed the animals, but also to sterilize and vaccinate them.
We have been helping Mrs. Iryna since the day we met her. In cooperation with the organization Psí život we regularly deliver food for the animals. We also deliver medicines and basic necessities for Mrs. Iryna. In the spring, a water borehole was built, thanks to which Mrs. Iryna no longer has to collect water hundreds of meters away from her house. She is an elderly lady who suffers from advanced arthritis in her knees and wrists. She is no longer able to handle the constant care of the animals.
Once, to make Iryna’s job easier, we tried to transfer some adult dogs to another shelter. The dogs became so hysterical that even Mrs. Iryna ended up in tears, and we were unable to transfer the dogs. After that we at least managed to move two puppies to a friend in Mukachevo. He will take care of the dogs in his shelter until the documents for their transport to the EU are processed. There the dogs will be handed over to their new owners. We are actively seeking to place other animals as well.
What exactly will the money be used for?
Now we are coming up with a project that will cover the cost of work of one volunteer. The situation is not easy for anyone in the village, so we would like to contribute 10,000 UAH per month to the volunteer (approx. 6500 6 500 CZK). He would help both the animals and Mrs. Iryna.
The money raised will also be used for the costs associated with the care of the animals, including their possible transport, food and medical care. The money will also cover basic needs for Mrs. Iryna. Thank you for your help.
